Q1. What are your top priorities if elected to the City of Bayswater council?

My core focus is community activation and connection. I specialise in transforming underutilised spaces into vibrant community hubs that bring people together. Mental health and social isolation are significant challenges in our community, and I believe local government can address this through three key areas: Safety - ensuring public spaces are free from antisocial behaviour; Affordability - supporting housing solutions so residents can live within their means; and Community Connection - creating opportunities for residents to engage with something meaningful beyond themselves. These elements work together to build a stronger, more resilient community.

Q2. What will you do to enable more walking and cycling in the City of Bayswater?

Drawing from my family's connection to trail development - my father was the founding Chairman of the Bibbulmun Track for 10 years - I want to create a network of themed walking and cycling trails throughout Bayswater. These would range from 30-minute local circuits to full-day adventures, connecting our heritage sites, local businesses, cafes, and community landmarks. By creating well-marked trails with varying difficulty levels and featured stops, we can encourage active transport while showcasing what makes Bayswater special.

Q3. What will you do to increase the City of Bayswater's tree canopy?

I propose a two-part strategy approach: First, incentivising private property owners to retain existing mature trees through rate rebates or development bonuses. Second, establishing a "Tree Refuge" program where viable trees slated for removal during development are assessed by independent arborists and relocated to temporary holding areas. With the State Government's new design requirements mandating deep soil zones for every new dwelling, we can supply these preserved trees at cost through partnerships with organisations like the Arbor Centre, creating a sustainable cycle of tree preservation and replanting.

Q4. What will you do to help our community reduce emissions and support a move to renewable energy?

I'm currently managing a practical example - a 9-unit project in Scarborough where we've installed solar panels and battery storage with embedded networking rather than waiting 18 months for Western Power upgrades. This system provides sustainable energy independence while reducing costs. I want to use this as a model to consult with other strata complexes throughout Bayswater, demonstrating the financial and environmental benefits. With current state and federal incentives, renewable energy solutions are both environmentally responsible and commercially viable. Please see the photos attached.

My diverse project experience allows me to bring practical, tested solutions to local government. I'm committed to ensuring our community is sustainable both environmentally and economically - because the best solutions benefit everyone.
