City of Bayswater - Trees on Private Land Policy Review
Loss of tree canopy is making our suburbs hotter and displacing wildlife.
The City of Bayswater is reviewing its 'Trees on Private Land and Street Verges Policy' to include new provisions that better protect existing mature trees and increase the tree canopy.
Please take a moment today to fill out the 2-minute online survey and show your support for the Trees on Private Land Policy policy.
The proposed policy amendments include measures to protect and retain mature trees on private land, introduce the definition of "Regulated Trees" (trees meeting specific size criteria), and mandate development approval before removing these trees. The City will be able to work with owners to see if existing large trees can be saved, and to track mature tree loss.

Infill development is an important part of arresting urban sprawl and providing housing for WA's growing population. Currently blocks are completely cleared before any plans are in place - you may have seen this happen in your street. This takes away any opportunity for new plans to take advantage of building around mature trees existing on the site. We can increase density and still aim to be "The Garden City".
