Sustainable Schools WA - First East Metro Network Meeting for Teachers

Description

This will be the first meeting of the new East Metro Regional Network Group for Sustainable Schools WA. We are seeking to get enough teachers/educators who are interested in Sustainability in our east metro public schools along to this meeting, to see if it is viable to continue this group in our area.

Sustainable Schools Networks around Perth provide an opportunity for educators to meet in their local area, learn skills, access guest speakers on a wide range of topics, exchange ideas, build capacity, troubleshoot and finally engage students in creative learning across our schools.
Hillcrest Primary School has a dedicated sustainability teacher, Rachael Roberts, and won Waste Wise School of the Year in 2018.

The meeting will include a tour of the three different composting systems in the school and the food growing program including bush tucker plants. The aim is to compost all food waste across the school and the waste project has already saved the school $2,000 per year with the removal of waste skip bins.

Rachael also Co-ordinates Environment House in Bayswater and Environment House will support the network where possible.
