The City of Bayswater is a valued and long-standing supporter of EnviroHouse.

Working together for the community

Through our close collaboration with the City's environment, waste and sustainability teams, we've been able to deliver more workshops, keep ticket prices affordable, and reach a broader audience through joint promotion and community engagement.

A home in the heart of Bayswater

Our partnership with the City extends beyond education programs. In May 2009, thanks to a generous offer from the City of Bayswater, EnviroHouse moved to 125 King William Street, Bayswater — a small house with a thriving native front garden beside the Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary and Riverside Gardens. The City's annual grant and subsidised rent have provided a stable home for our not-for-profit community environment centre, allowing us to grow our programs and services in the heart of Bayswater.

Growing greener neighbourhoods

Over the years, we have also partnered on a range of initiatives that encourage residents to take practical action for the environment. A key example is the City's Native Plants to Residents program, which EnviroHouse has proudly delivered for many years, helping local households create waterwise gardens, support biodiversity and strengthen habitat across the municipality.

Restoring the riverfront

We also work together on environmental restoration projects that benefit the wider community. In partnership with the City's Environment Officer, we have coordinated the planting of more than 2,000 native trees, shrubs and sedges along the Maylands riverfront, with thousands more sedges and casuarina trees established along the Maylands foreshore and on the Maylands side of Ascot Island.

This kind of practical support and collaboration demonstrates the important role local government can play in strengthening community-led environmental action. We are grateful for the City of Bayswater's ongoing partnership and commitment to sustainability.
